If you missed it last year, then you better mark your calendars for this year, October 24, 25 & 26th, 2008. We are working on more events for our 2008 event and we’ll keep you posted as the time draws closer. But, here is a recap of last year’s event: We had approximately 35 riders on Friday for the Bartlett Wash ride. The townie tour on Friday night was super fun with 40 plus people joining in. We made 5 stops around town with beer, bonfires, prizes, coffee roasting, games and dancin’! Saturday’s group shuttle to Porcupine and LPS had approximately 65 riders total. Great ride for those of you who haven’t done it. Thanks to Coyote Shuttle for getting people to the trails.
The Chile Pepper Jump Jam on Saturday saw about 15 riders to start on the practice runs. When the Jump Jam started at 3:30, we had 5 competitors showin’ their stuff to a great crowd. Sean Shuman of Carbondale, Colorado had the biggest bag of tricks and walked away with a Giant STP dirt jump frame. Special thanks to Lawson Construction Company for hauling the dirt and the use of their backhoe to move the dirt. We couldn’t imagine shoveling 96,000 pounds of dirt! Thanks to T.J. Cowern and Tyson Swasey for assisting Ryon in judging the competitors. Also, we can’t leave out Nate McKay, a.k.a. Nate Don’t Hesitate, for doing an amazing job of being our MC for the whole event. Thanks man, you’re the best!!! Also, thanks to Chris Southwood, our temporary Aussie for helping build the jump, Travis Decker, Nate McKay and other Moab locals for their assistance. Thanks to Jerry and Teresa of Red River Canoe for supplying water and food to the competitors.
The Costume Party held at the Elk’s Lodge with bands, The Shindaggers from Flagstaff, and Moab’s very own Iocane, was an absolute riot! We had some amazing costumes and the winner of the costume contest was a lady from Reno, Nevada who was dressed as Sponge Bob. She really threw down with some crazy antics Sponge Bob style and went back to Reno with an Electra Cruiser. The hot pepper eating contest went to Lucas of Reno, Nevada. That poor guy, along with Gary from Telluride, were in some pain on Sunday morning for sure! Lucas won a Giant STP dirt jump frame for his feat of eating the most peppers.
Does this sound like fun?? We’ll see you in the fall….& start working on that costume! Moab takes costume parties VERY seriously!
